BONUS ACTIVITIES

Bonus activities are conference offerings that must be selected at the time of your online conference registration. Critiques and Consultations require an additional fee; there is no additional fee to participate in the Illustration Challenge or Portfolio Showcase.

 

  • You must be registered for BOTH Saturday and Sunday to participate in the Portfolio Showcase;
  • you must be registered for BOTH Friday and Saturday to participate in PAL or AQQ Critiques;
  • you must be registered for AT LEAST Saturday to participate in all other bonus events.

CRITIQUES and CONSULTATIONS

 

SIX (6) types of critiques/consultations are available.
PAL Roundtable Manuscript (PAL) Critiques [Friday]  **FULL – waitlist only
Agent Quick Query (AQQ) Critiques [Friday]
Manuscript (MS) Critiques [Saturday]  **CLOSED
Portfolio (PF) Critiques [Saturday]
Social Media Consultations (SMC) [Saturday]
Career Consultations (CC) [both Friday AND Saturday]

NEW REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

(1) You SELECT the TYPE of critique/consultation you want in PART 1 of your conference registration, which opens at 2:00 pm [EST] on Sunday, February 16, 2020.

 

(2) You SCHEDULE your critique/consultation via SignUpGenius, which opens at 2:00 pm [EST} on Sunday, March 1, 2020.

Scheduling instructions will be found in your  CRITIQUE/CONSULTATION Confirmation Email.

All critiques and consultations take place during workshop sessions. Feel free to attend a workshop even if it conflicts with your meeting, but DO plan on slipping in and out quietly so as to not disturb the presenter or other attendees.

 

There is a maximum of 1 (ONE) critique and/or consultation per person.
EXCEPTIONS:
PAL critiques can be taken IN ADDITION TO ANY SATURDAY CRITIQUE/CONSULTATION.
Illustrators wanting a PORTFOLIO CRITIQUE may ALSO select a MANUSCRIPT CRITIQUE.

Are you looking for professional feedback on your manuscript? Register for a PAL Roundtable Critique and get feedback from a professional author or illustrator as well as comments from a small group of peers.
When? Friday afternoon
Where? Ballroom (3rd floor)
Additional cost?
$35 for SCBWI members, $50 for non-members

*PAL critiques can be taken on their own or in addition to any other single SATURDAY critique or consultation.

 

Are you looking for professional feedback on your query? Register for an Agent Quick Query (AQQ) Critique and get a 15-minute one-on-one meeting at the conference with an agent.
When? Friday Afternoon
Where? Longford (3rd floor)
Additional cost?
$50 for SCBWI members, $60 for non-members

Have you polished the first ten pages of your completed manuscript or picture book and are ready to show them to agents and editors? Register for a Manuscript (MS) Critique to get written feedback AND a fifteen-minute one-on-one meeting at the conference with an agent or editor.
When? Saturday during workshop sessions

Additional cost?
$60 for SCBWI members, $70 for non-members

Manuscript samples must be submitted by March 15, 2020 to be considered.
