Virtual ShopTalk: The Revision Checklist with Lisa Papademetriou

Date/Time
Date(s) - 08/11/2020
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Novelists often try to do everything all at once: work on plot, develop theme, capture imagery, build character arcs, construct witty dialogue, craft elegant sentences, clarify secondary characters, and so on. It’s a lot to manage and can cause entire plotlines, characters, and motivations to disappear halfway through a manuscript. It can also make writers feel overwhelmed. The fields of aviation, medicine, and software engineering all utilize checklists to ensure that nothing gets overlooked. Lisa Papademetriou’s simple checklist system helps with drafting and revising by clarifying and separating elements so that writers can approach work one task at a time.

Only for SCBWI members! When you register for a ShopTalk this fall, you’ll automatically receive a free fall subscription to Bookflow, the cloud-based tool that helps writers stay motivated and organized all the way to “The End”. Get unstuck with writing prompts, set goals, track progress, and easily reorder work. (No credit card required, free until December 1, 2020). You will receive an email about how to join Bookflow after the event.
