Seventh Annual New England SCBWI Agent/Editor Day
We are pleased to announce that New England SCBWI will be hosting Agent/Editor Day again this Fall 2021, for picture books/picture book dummies, middle grade/YA novels, and chapter books.
For authors of middle grade or young adult fiction, as well as authors and illustrators of picture books, there is nothing better than getting feedback on your manuscript or book dummy. Sometimes it’s all you need to move forward with your work. When you can get it from an industry professional, so much the better!
We strongly encourage you to have completed projects for these events. The names of the faculty appear below—bios and manuscript wish lists will be available on the NESCBWI website in October.
Saturday: November 13, 2021, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. online w/ Zoom
Registration will happen via lottery, as it did last year:
Lottery sign-up on Wednesday, October 27, any time 8:00 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Lottery drawing for registrants will be held on Thursday, October 28
Registration (pay and pick faculty) will be on Monday, November 1
FEE: $75.00 for SCBWI members / $100 for non-members
The tentative schedule will be as follows:
8:45 a.m.—Zoom main room opens
9:00 a.m.—Event welcome
9:10 a.m.-11:10 a.m.—Attendees will be assigned to a Zoom breakout room with up to 6 other authors and either an agent or an editor. Each participant will have the opportunity to share their screen with the first five pages of their MS or their full picture book manuscript or dummy. Participants will present as much of their work as possible in five minutes, and will then have ten minutes to get feedback from the faculty mentor and the group.
11:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m.— Panel discussion w/ faculty about what they are acquiring.
Zoom instruction will be provided prior to the event dates for anyone who needs it.
At registration, you will get to pick your faculty member.
Faculty have agreed to accept queries from all participants for two months* following the workshop.
