New England SCBWI Agent/Editor Day

Middle Grade and Young Adult Authors: Join eight of New England’s premier children’s literature industry professionals for networking and personal feedback on your manuscript’s first 750 words. 

For authors of middle grade or young adult fiction, there’s nothing better than getting feedback on your manuscript. Sometimes it’s all you need to move forward with your work. When you can get it from an industry professional, so much the better! Join some of New England’s industry pros for a day of networking and feedback. Come prepared to share. 

Faculty 

All faculty have agreed to accept queries from all participants for two months following the workshop.

This workshop can accommodate up to 64 participants. Please register early as space will be filled on a first come, first served basis and is expected to fill quickly. 

Schedule 

The day will be informal, with four opportunities for networking. 

9:00 a.m.—Networking and breakfast in the MWCC Commons. Bring book swag and business cards to swap and share. 

9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.—First break out session. Each author will be assigned to a table with 7 other authors and either an agent or editor. Each author is responsible for bringing eight copies of the first 750 words of their MS to share with the group. Each author will have five minutes to read as much of their work as they like and ten minutes to get feedback from the group. 

11:45 a.m.-12:35 p.m.—Lunch and networking in the MWCC Commons. 

12:45 p.m. -2:45 p.m.—Second break out session. Each author will be assigned to a table with 7 other authors and either an agent or editor. Each author is responsible for bringing eight copies of the first 750 words of their MS to share with the group. Each author will have five minutes to read as much of their work as they like and ten minutes to get feedback from the group. 

3:00 p.m.—3:30 p.m.—Farewell and evaluation

Join us on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Mt. Wachusett Community College, Gardner, 444 Green Street, Gardner, MA—meet in the MWCC Commons for registration. This program is co-sponsored by New England SCBWI and Mount Wachusett Community College. 

Sign-in and Networking will begin at 9 a.m. with the program starting at 9:30 a.m. Fee includes continental breakfast and box lunch. Please note, the Central Massachusetts Children’s Book Festival is happening the same day on campus. Agent/Editor day will gather in the MWCC Commons area. 

Registration is through MWCC; register and pay online at mwcc.edu/noncredit.
