2019 Squam Lake Writing Retreat

The Rockywold Deephaven Camp at Squam Lake offers charming, rustic cabins with beautiful decks overlooking the lake, large common areas where you can socialize or enjoy a drink by the fireplace, and a dining hall options for gluten-free, dairy-free and vegetarian diets.

Built in the early part of the previous century, each cottage has twin beds, a fireplace, a screened-in porch, shared baths, electricity, and indoor plumbing (with hot water) and an antique ice box where ice harvested from Squam Lake is delivered, as is firewood, daily. Linens and towels are also provided. The decor is simple. The buildings are non-winterized, wooden structures that do not have heat, air conditioning, telephones, or televisions.

Request a roommate or let us pair you with a new friend. Canoes, kayaks, bikes, sailboats, paddle boards and golf carts are available to rent. Check-in is 3 pm or later on Friday, and check-out by 12 pm on Sunday.

All your meals are included, but bringing snacks or drinks to share with your fellow writers is encouraged. Single accommodations may be available at an additional cost of $175 on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note:

•  All rooms are double-occupancy. (limited quantities of singles may be available, additional room charge of $175 will apply; singles will not be assigned/billed until registration closes.)
•  Most bathrooms are shared.
•  Although the dining hall accommodates dairy, gluten and meat free diets, if you have severe dietary restrictions, it would best to bring your own supplementary food. An ice box is available for refrigeration.
•  Some cabins may require a bit of walking to get to.
