First Annual Southern New England SCBWI Agent/Editor Day at Fairfield University
Saturday, March 21, 2020 8:45 a.m.—3:30 p.m.
Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT

Picture Book Registration will open on January 19, 2020.
Illustrator and Novel Registration will open on January 26, 2020.

SCBWI Members $125.00, Non-Members $155.00 (price includes breakfast and a boxed lunch)

The day will be informal, with four networking opportunities.

8:45 a.m. – Networking and breakfast in the Kelly Center at Fairfield University.

9:10 a.m. – Welcome from Regional Advisor Stacy Mozer and Fairfield University’s MFA Director Carol Ann Davis

9:15 a.m. – What an Agent Can Do for You with Agent Miriam Altshuler and Author Leslie Connor (The Truth as Told by Mason Buttle)

9:40 a.m.-11:40 a.m.—First break out session. Author or illustrator will be assigned to a table with 7 other authors or illustrators and either an agent, an editor, or an art director. It is recommended that each author bring eight copies of the first few pages of their MS or one copy of their book dummy/MS/portfolio to share with the group. Each author or illustrator will have five minutes to present as much of their work as they like and ten minutes to get feedback from the group.

11:40 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.—Lunch and networking. Information about Fairfield University’s MFA Program will be available

12:15 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. Panel discussion w/ faculty on what they are acquiring lately.

1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Second break out session. Author or illustrator will be assigned to a table with 7 other authors or illustrators and either an agent, an editor or an art director. 3:30 p.m. – farewell and evaluations

All faculty have agreed to accept queries from all participants for two months following the workshop. Specific guidelines will be provided after the event.

Participants will have the opportunity to request specific editors and agents before the event. We will try to honor all requests, but they cannot be guaranteed. Refunds will be available if we are able to fill the spot from our wait list. Pal Pal Fees will be deducted.
