Let me introduce myself… I’m the new Co-Regional Advisor for Northern New England
My name is Shawn Anderson. I’m excited to take on the role of Co-Reginal Advisor for SCBWI New England. Based in Northern New England, I’m looking forward to working with members in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont to build our writing and illustrating community. I joined the Regional Team back in 2018 as Co-Assistant Regional Advisor.
I live 45 minutes from the Canadian border in Barnet, Vermont with my partner, Walter. It’s a picturesque little town where the autumn foliage is amazing, everyone rocks plaid flannel, and deer, bear, and moose wander through the backyard regular basis.
I work across the Connecticut River in New Hampshire as a copywriter and branding specialist for a website and catalog company—think, Elaine Benes from Seinfeld.
My undergrad degree is in Political Science and U. S. History from the University of Vermont.
After graduation, I moved to Boston and attended Emerson College where I earned my graduate degree in Integrated Communications: Advertising, Marketing, and Public Relations. I’m a bit of branding geek, so I can’t wait to have published books to promote, market, and sell.
I have four children: 23-year-old twin sons, a son who’s a senior in high school, and a daughter who’s in the 8th grade. Between the four, I’ve read countless picture books and middle-grade novels to them over the years and have re-lived the world of Harry Potter multiple time. Ahhh, that’s just another glorious perk to being a dad.
As for my writing, I write young adult, middle grade, and picture books. I love Twitter, so for more details about my work, writing progress, or to write with me at 5AM in the morning (I’m active with the #5amwritersclub writing community), you can follow me at @ShawnTWrites.
